Robotic Surgery
Centerpoint Medical Center now has a robotic surgery program that focuses on the minimally invasive surgical needs of women. The centerpiece of the program is the state-of-the-art da Vinci® Surgical System, the latest robotic technology available today.
GYN procedures that traditionally have been done via open or laparoscopic surgery, including hysterectomy, tumor removal and other conditions related to the uterus and cervix, can now be performed with this new technology. The da Vinci System enables highly magnified visualization inside the body and greater precision while making it easier for surgeons to operate using small incisions.
This innovation results in many potential patient benefits, including less risk of infection, blood loss, significantly less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times.
Using the system, the surgeon operates while seated at a console viewing a 3D image of the surgical field. The surgeon’s fingers grasp the master controls below the display. The system seamlessly translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.

Centerpoint Medical Center offers tours for families expecting the birth of a child. Tours are available every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.; there is no need to register, just come to the labor and delivery waiting room. Individual tours also are available if needed.
